Access to Information Unit

Access to Information Unit was established on 08.07.2004 within the General Secretariat in accordance with the “Right to Information Law No. 4982” published in the Official Gazette No. 25269 dated 24.10.2003 and the “Regulation on the Principles and Procedures for the Implementation of the Right to Information Law” published in the Official Gazette No. 25445 dated 27.4.2004.

The purpose of the Access to Information Unit is to regulate the principles and procedures regarding the exercise of the right to information by individuals in accordance with the principles of equality, impartiality and openness as a requirement of democratic and transparent governance.

Institutions and organizations are obliged to take the necessary administrative and technical measures to make all kinds of information or documents, other than the exceptions specified in this Law, available to the applicants and to conclude the applications for access to information effectively, expeditiously and accurately.

The application for obtaining information shall be made to the institution or organization where the requested information or document is located with a petition containing the name and surname, signature, residence or work address of the applicant, or if the applicant is a legal person, the title and address of the legal person and the signature and authorization document of the authorized person.
